Dear Diane:
It seemed there wasn't a lot to laugh about, after two spinal surgeries in six months, but your laughter therapy session gave me a cleansing outlet for the stress of adjusting to my disability and pain. I thought I might not be able to move around like others, but each of us found a way to participate - some of us leaning on canes, some seated, but everyone found a way to take part! Always an upbeat and athletic person, it has been hard to get around after my surgeries and hard to accept the long recovery and ensuing disability. At your recent public session, however, with familiar friends from the community and friends I was yet to meet, we all shared a common thread - the ability to laugh. This made us feel physically better, and emotionally lighter. After all, an evening spent laughing is so much more positive a function and exercise than one worrying! As a charter member of the Hope U-Well Clowns, I am proud of your new venture, and hope many people try this healthy and fun way to focus on our bodies and minds, by employing the opportunity to breathe deeply, share fellowship and trust - and get healthier - with laughter! Thank you!
